Goldfish is an iPhone app for counting down to the dates that matter. It's made by Outgrabe (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
The short version: we don't collect any of your data. Goldfish has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Your events stay on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud storage, which we can't see.
Your events
The events, tags and settings you create are stored on your iPhone.
If you're signed in to iCloud, Goldfish syncs your events and tags through your own private iCloud database so they appear on your other devices. That data is held by Apple under your Apple Account and is covered by Apple's privacy policy. We have no access to it. If you aren't signed in to iCloud, your events stay on your device.
Display preferences, such as appearance and timeline options, are stored only on your device.
Contacts
Goldfish reads your contacts only when you choose Import Birthdays from Contacts in Settings, and only after you give permission. The app shows the contacts that have a birthday. For each one you choose, it saves an ordinary birthday event with that person's name and birthday. Nothing else is read or kept, such as phone numbers, emails, addresses or photos. No link to the contact is stored, and nothing leaves your device apart from the resulting events syncing through your own iCloud as described above.
You can change Contacts access at any time in your iPhone's Settings → Apps → Goldfish.
Microphone and speech recognition
When you tap the microphone button to add an event by voice, Goldfish uses the microphone and Apple's speech recognition to turn what you say into text. This happens on your device and only while you're adding an event. The audio and transcript aren't saved or sent to us. Only the event you choose to save is kept.
Apple Intelligence
On devices that support it, Goldfish uses Apple's on-device language model to suggest an emoji for an event and to understand a spoken or typed sentence such as “Dentist next Tuesday at 3pm”. This processing happens on your iPhone, and nothing is sent to us.
Siri and Shortcuts
If you add an event with Siri or Shortcuts (“Add an event in Goldfish”), your request is handled by Siri under Apple's privacy policy, and the event is saved in Goldfish like any other.
Information we collect
None. Goldfish doesn't include analytics, crash-reporting or advertising tools, and it doesn't send your information to us or to any third party. If you have chosen to share diagnostics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. These don't identify you.
If you email us, we'll use your email address and message only to reply to you.
Deleting your data
- Delete any event or tag in the app. The deletion syncs to your other devices.
- Deleting the app removes its data from that device.
- To remove Goldfish's data from iCloud, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Goldfish on your iPhone, if Goldfish is listed there.
Children
Goldfish isn't directed at children, and since we collect no personal information, we hold none about anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Goldfish changes in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and the effective date above.
